The country of Bhutan plans to use only organic agriculture, and expects to grow more food as a result. Small holders are using new techniques, such as sustainable root intensification to grow more without the need for synthetic chemicals. Nevertheless, they face challenges of changing weather, can lead to additional pest pressure, and labor changes as young adults leave the farms for the cities.
