Beginning Oct. 1, 2012, businesses bringing food into China must register with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. Products not listed on the registration form in Section 2, such as food additives, fresh fruit and live animals are exempt from registration, but still must comply with relevant existing rules.
