The Organic Standard reports approximately 90 percent of all products acceptances in the importer approval system have come from the new equivalence system, initiated mid-2012. In the new system, certification bodies are accepted by the European Union to work in equivalence to the EU regulations. The previous system, which used of import derogations for approval of imports, will stop at the end June 2014.
