Nineteen EU member states want to opt out of cultivation of Monsanto’s GM corn MON 810 under a new EU regulation that allows them to do so. The requests came from Austria, Belgium (for the Wallonia region), United Kingdom (for Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland) Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, and Slovenia.
