Attendees at the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements- Europe European Organic Congress discussed the development of the European Organic Regulation and encouraged an organic action plan. Over 200 people, including representatives of the EU Commission, attended the Congress, held in Lithuania July 3-4. Some statements from participating stakeholders expressed concern about the EU’s plans to transfer much of the oversight of organic products to the Directorate General for Health and Consumers, as that may overemphasize testing for lack of residues to demonstrate organic status.
