Starting January 1, 2014, the European Union instituted new regulations for the organic control system. Control bodies will now need to take samples for analysis from at least 5 percent of the operators it oversees, additional random control visits must be take place for 10 percent of operations, and at least 10 percent of inspections and visits must be unannounced. Regulations (EU) No 392/2013 amend articles 2, 63, 68 and 92 of Regulation (EC) No 889/2008, and a primarily designed to improve transparency and communicaion between control stakeholders.
