Valued at almost EUR23 billion, with EUR21 billion of that in food, the organic market was up about six percent in 2012.  The latest report from the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and the Agricultural Market Information Company (AMI) also shows the organic market was up more than ten percent in Finland, Norway and the Netherlands, although this was balanced by declining sales in the United Kingdom and elsewhere. Germany is the largest market in  Europe, with sales of EUR 7,040 million in 2012. Switzerland had the highest annual per capita spending on organic products worldwide (EUR 189). Fruit and vegetable sales account for between a fifth and a third of organic sales in national markets, and are a larger part of the organic market than the non-organic market. Sales of organic fruit and vegetables are particularly significant in Italy, Ireland, Norway, Sweden and Germany. Meanwhile, organic meat and meat product sales are particularly high in Belgium, the Netherlands, Finland and France, with market shares of approximately 10%. Dairy products and other livestock products are leaders in many countries, especially in northern Europe. More details, including agricultural data, are available in the full report.
