A report released by Agence Bio on May 22 reveals the organic market in France was up 10 percent in 2014 to reach €5 billion (US$5.51 billion). Purchases in food service were up 11 percent since 2013, reaching €191 million (US$210.6 million) before tax. Furthermore, nearly 40,000 organic operators work in France; and 1.12 million hectares are organic, up 4 percent from 2013. At the end of 2014, organic agriculture accounted for 4.1% agricultural land, 5.6% of farms and 7% of agricultural jobs.
