The 240-store chain of natural foods store, La Vie Claire, grew 17 percent in 2014 to reach 249 million euros (includes franchisee sales), making it the second largest natural foods chain in France and its territories. In addition, its customers increased by 8.5 percent. About 184 shops in the chain are franchises.Primarily found in downtown locations, the shops are typically 80-300 square meters, and predominately feature the store’s own brand. . Over the last few years, the emphasis has changed form dry goods and food supplements to fresh foods. About 6 percent of the store’s sales are from the bulk department where customers bring their own packaging and can select among 70 different products, including cornflakes, cookies, dried nuts and fruit. The shops are also offering a service for shoppers to order online in advance and pick up their purchases in the store.
