German Food and Agriculture Minister Christian Schmidt visited the Organic Trade Association’s booth at the BioFach World Organic Trade Fair, and sampled US organic products from some of the 14 US businesses represented in the booth. Since the United States and the European union established an organic equivalency agreement three years ago, exports of US organic products to Europe have increased 42 percent. Through activities such as showcases at international trade exhibitions like BioFach, reverse trade missions and more, OTA seeks to foster consumer trust in the American organic brand, and strengthen recognition of the high quality, diversity and consistency of U.S. organic products internationally.
