The domestic market for organic products in India reached US$95 million in 2012-13, and may grow to a billion dollars in 2016, despite a need for additional farmer training and consumer education about organic goods. Meanwhile, 600,000 hectares are currently certified for organic, and 4.12 million hectares are certified for wild collecting. Exports of over 165,000 tonnes of organic products in 2012-13 were valued at 534 million US dollars.
