Higher disposable incomes among India’s city dwellers have led to as much as 62 percent of urban households buying organic products, a 95 percent increase in the last five years, according to a survey by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India. Providing better and safer food for the health of their children was a common reason survey respondents provided, despite the 30-40 percent higher cost.
