Ireland’s Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine highlighted the importance of organic agriculture at the country’s National Organic Awards ceremony. Annual retail sales in Ireland are up from €97 million in 2013 to €99.1 million, and over 52,000 hectares of land is being used to produce organic food. The country has 1721 registered organic operators.
Established by the National Organic Plan under the auspices of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine in collaboration with Bord Bia, Ireland's National Organic Awards recognize the achievements and raise the profile of Irish organic food and drink manufacturers and growers.
