In order to expedite the trade of organic products, members of Mexico’s Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) planned steps toward an equivalence agreement for organic food. As part of the process, government representatives from both countries will visit organic operations certified under applicable Mexican law in 2014, and will meet in early 2015 to assess similar organic operations in the United States. (Based on an unofficial Google Translate version of SAGARPA's press release)
