Organic food sales in the Netherlands totaled €1.07 billion in 2013, up approximately 6-8 percent overall, and 9 percent in the natural food channel. Meanwhile, Dutch organic exports, including the regional specialties of cheese, flowers, and flower bulbs, were up 10 percent in 2013. The previous year, organic foods held a 3.2 percent market share. Approximately 55 percent of organic food sales in 2012 were via conventional supermarket chains, with natural food specialists at 30 percent, restaurants at 8 percent, and all other channels (direct sales, Internet stores, weekly markets, etc.) at 7 percent. Approximately 5 percent of the organic food sales in 2012 were from organic dairy. Leading wholesales for the natural food channel include Udea, Natudis and Odin. These three wholesalers own or franchise 115 of the 365 natural food specialist stores and health shops in the Netherlands.
