New Zealand’s largest organic export category, fresh fruits and vegetables, represent 45 percent of exports by value, with $96 million (NZ) in 2012. Meanwhile, New Zealand exports $4.7 million (NZ) worth of organic dairy, meat and wool, from 92,522 hectares devoted to livestock production. Although total acreage devoted to livestock is down 14.8 percent since 2009, the value of dairy, meat and wool increased. The New Zealand domestic market for organic products was estimated at $126-133 million (NZ) in 2012.
