According to the New Zealand Market Report 2012, organic exports from New Zealand are growing in value, reaching up to NZ$225 million in 2012, a 25 percent increase since 2009. Fruits and vegetables are the most valuable category, followed by dairy. Furthermore, export markets are expanding, with Europe, North America and Australia as the primary export destinations with 70 percent of all exports. Exports to Korea have gone form 8 to 11 percent of total exports and exports to Japan have doubled in value.

The domestic market in New Zealand has also increased to as much as NZ$133 million. Non-fresh organic products in supermarkets increased by 26.8 percent over 2009, and sales of organic products in specialty stores have nearly doubled in the past three years.
