The Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in Samoa in September showcased the Pacific organic movement and its achievements in the region. Cicia Island in Fiji, for example, is fully organic, with organic certification for its products. Organically certified ginger, vanilla, virgin coconut oil, coffee, cocoa, fruit juice, dried fruit, noni products and high-value cosmetic oils from seven Pacific Island countries were on display, providing conference attendees a glimpse of the sector’s potential for economic development, food security and resilience to climate change.
