Korean standards for organic fresh products and organic processed products will be merging under one agency, the National Agricultural Products Quality management Service (NAQS) and become effective in June 2013, which will result in a change in certification requirements for organic processed products. Beginning January 1, 2014, processed organic products, including imports, must be certified according to South Korean standards in order to put ‘organic’ on the label. Meanwhile, imported fresh organic products, which are already regulated by NAQS, have been required to be certified since January 1, 2013.
