Overall, land dedicated to organic production in the United Kingdom decreased by 4.6% in 2014 to 548 thousand hectares. Organically farmed area is approximately 3.2 percent of agricultural land in the United Kingdom. One bright spot was an increase in organic cattle, up 7.4 percent after three years of downturn. In addition, the number of organic processors, including producers who also process, was up 7.1 percent in 2014 compared to 2013.
