The Canadian Food Inspection Agency, in partnership with the Organic Federation of Canada, has developed the Organic Standards Interpretation Committee (SIC) to provide interpretive guidance to the Canada Organic Office on issues related to the National Standards for Organic Agriculture. Proposed answers to recent questions are up for public comment until March 22. Lysine, non-organic animal feed, space requirements for cattle, sprouts, cheese production, curing meat, review of inert ingredients, calcium phosphate, yeast derived protein, and ingredient constituents are all mentioned in the current set of questions. All comments regarding these answers covering many topics should be sent to OPR.RPB@inspection.gc.ca
