The Ministry of Agriculture in France aims to double the land in organic agriculture there by 2017. The organic sector in France accounts for 7 percent of all jobs in agriculture, 3.7 percent of agricultural land, and 4.7 percent of farms. The government will devote €160 million per year 2014 to 2020 for conversion to organic or to support the continuation of organic cultivation, and €4 million per year to encourage domestic organic protein crops. In addition, the government will support development of markets and consumer information, for research and development and training. One goal is to increase organic use in catering to 20 percent. Currently, 64 percent of French consumers buy organic products regularly or occasionally.
