With the April 29, 2014 enactment of organic regulations in Mexico, provisions for participatory organic certification for smallholders and family farmers will be supervised by an official authority. Participatory Certification initiatives must report about the organic producers in each group annually. Meanwhile, The Mexican Network of Organic Markets and Tianguis has been invited by the government to join a task force working on ensuring the success of Participatory Certification as organic production becomes more standardized.
