Sales of organic packaged foods in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) totaled $16.3 million in 2013, and retail sales of organic products are expected to increase 31 percent to reach $21.1 million by 2018, according to Euromonitor International. Increased sales stem from rising awareness of the benefits of organic foods. Western expatriates are among the groups choosing organic products, however there is increasing interest from all nationalities and among middle-class consumers. Among packaged organic product categories, organic baby food leads the way ($7 million in 2013), followed by sauces dressings and condiments ($5.7 million); and canned/preserved food other than ready meals, soup and pasta ($2.5 million).
