In 2014, organic turnover in Brazil is expected to be up 35 percent to approximately US$900 million, as an increasing array of finished organic goods join the long-time staples—such as sugar, coffee, soy beans, rice and fruit juices—in Brazil’s exports. In past years, about 50-60 percent of Brazil’s organic products were exported. The Brazilian Development Promotion Institute (IPD) and Organics Brazil have a goal of increasing the value of exports to US$150 million by 2016, and having 100 firms participate in export programs. Meanwhile, organic imports from Europe and the United States are valued at around €25 million.
