Public comments on Russia’s National Standard (GOST) closed on September 15, and the final law is expected to come into force on January 1, 2015. Changes from the original 2010 document include a shift from mandatory state registration to a voluntary certification system for producers. The law has been harmonized with European orgnaic laws. The USDA Foreign Agriculture Service has provided an unofficial translation fo the law.
