A project to convert India’s state of Kerala to organic farming by 2016 is underway, after the state’s Kasarago district switched to organic farming in a pilot phase of the project. Over the last year, the state Gross State Domestic Product grew 5.26 percent over the last year, with production of paddy rice, coconut, cassava, mango, pineapple and other fruits, vegetables and spices, including pepper, ginger, and turmeric all up.
