The European Union has published a market brief on “Organic imports in the EU.” Because Certificate of Inspection information is now electronic, data on imports is now more readily available for analysis. According to the brief, the EU imported a total of 3,3 million tonnes of organic agri-food produce in 2018, of which 57% was in the form of commodities and 35% as other primary products. Tropical fruits, nuts and spices is the leading import  category by volume. The leading supplier of organic agri-food products is China; US is seventh. The report estimates value of imports and examines in detail what products are imported form each of the top 10 importing countries.
